As an adventure traveller Ellis has had many wild & exciting adventures. A few of which have landed him in some perilous situations. From swimming in piranha infested waters in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, diving remote shipwrecks in South Africa, to being imprisoned & interrogated at gunpoint in a third world jail in Vietnam.
Ellis loves to live life on the wild side, have a look at this…
Favourite place above water:
Having experienced so many incredible places on this planet it is hard to choose just one. But if I have to think back and weigh them up there is one place that always comes to the forefront of my mind, surprisingly not too far from home. Fiordland - rugged, stunningly beautiful, remote and untouched. Art designed by nature.
Favourite place under water:
Swimming with humpback whale mum's and their curious calves, in the tepid, crystal clear waters of the Tongan islands has to be at the top of my list. This was as close to an underwater spiritual experience as you can get.
Favourite sea animal:
Ever since I was a kid I have always been fascinated by sharks. I believe they are misunderstood, misrepresented and very much victimized by us as humans. I have had the pleasure of swimming with many species of sharks, all around the world and have never once felt threatened by their presence. Seeing great white sharks breaching in South Africa has to be one of the most incredible wildlife spectacles I have ever been fortunate enough to experience.
Diving has taught me…
That we as a human species, and the above water world that we live on, is but a tiny fraction of this incredible planet. The diversity of life that we see on land is far exceeded by that beneath the ocean surface. Not only are our lives enriched by our planets oceans - they are dependent on our oceans.
